Lauderdale House, Highgate

£1,850.00

Lauderdale House is a beautiful historic country house based in Waterlow Park, Highgate. It now runs as an arts and education centre and hosts fabulous events within its grounds. It was originally built for Richard Martin (Lord Mayor of London) in 1582 and proceeded to have a number of different owners over the years. In 1645 it came to Earl of Lauderdale (hence its name). It was converted to a neoclassical style in 1760 and in 1882 the then owner, Sir Sydney Waterlow, the famous printer, donated it ‘for the enjoyment of Londoners’. It’s now a Grade II listed building.

This charming spot on the edge of Waterlow Park is as much about the gardens as it is the beautiful house itself. There are so many lovely variations in colour and shape in this pretty scene and it was a real pleasure to draw.

This original piece was drawn using ink and pencil on Fabriano Aquarello watercolour paper. It is mounted on a high float resting on a ‘minuet’ board to compliment the drawing. It is framed with a slim black wooden frame. The glass used in the frame is anti-reflective AR70 high clarity artglass to both protect and preserve the drawing, and also ensure the highest quality visual experience with very little reflection or glare to distract the eye. The frame is included in the above price.

Paper size: W 62.5cm H 46.1cm

Frame size: W 70.2cm H 53.2cm
