This idyllic natural bathing pond nestled in Hampstead Heath is surrounded by tall trees providing a lovely shady spot for lovers of outdoor swimming or for those who enjoy a city dip with friends to escape urban life. In the summertime these trees cast beautiful, vibrant shades of greens and browns into the water. Hampstead Mixed Bathing Pond is truly a real North London treasure and certainly one of London’s best open air swimming spots.
My aim with this piece was to capture what this magical spot is all about, from the people swimming and relaxing to the incredible colours found in the water and foliage.
This piece was drawn using ink and brush-pen on Bristol paper, enabling me to really capture the fine detail in the art deco architecture and give lovely depth and a sharp, vibrant finish. This piece is mounted on a high float and framed with a black wooden frame. The glass used in the frame is anti reflective AR70 to both protect and preserve the drawing, and also ensure the highest quality visual experience with very little reflection or glare to distract the eye.
