White Hart Lane, 1899 - 2017
White Hart Lane, Tottenham - known and loved by Spurs fans far and wide. This was the treasured home of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club from 1899 - 2017, a great 118 years.
White Hart Lane hosted 2,533 competitive Spurs games in its history. Tottenham's final game was played on 14th May 2017 with a 2-1 victory against Manchester United and the stadium was fully demolished after the end of the 2016-17 season.
This drawing captures a snapshot in time. The bright white wording of 'Tottenham Hotspur Football Club' proudly dominates the facade of the west stand, sitting on top of the corrugated iron walls which covered the stadium in the early days. The iron gates stood throughout the history of White Hart Lane and will be remembered by many as the gateway into all the Spurs matches over the years.
I loved the challenge of this drawing. I used a number of different historical photographs to find the details and features I needed to enable me to capture the exact scene I had in mind. It felt like a real privilege to draw a ground which meant and still means so much to so many.
This is a landscape, unframed Giclee print of an ink and Winsor and Newton brush-pen drawing.
This drawing is printed on premium Hahnemühle photo rag paper (308gsm) made of 100% white cotton, providing a heavyweight, archival piece of art at an affordable price. Giclee prints are available in 4 sizes, *8”x 6”, A4 (210mm x 297mm), A3 (297mm x 420mm) and A2 (420mm x 594mm)
