The Spaniards Inn

from £40.00

The beautiful Spaniards Inn is a historic pub found on Spaniards Road on the edge of Hampstead Heath. Built by two Spanish brothers in back 1585, this iconic grade II listed building is steeped in history, myth and legend. It is known to have served as inspiration to the great Charles Dickens and John Keats and Dick Turpin is thought to have been a regular at the Inn, as his father had been its landlord. The Inn itself features in Dicken’s book - Pickwick Papers and is mentioned in Bram Stoker’s Dracula and many of the literary and artistic inhabitants of, and visitors to Hampstead are believed to have visited the Spaniards Inn, including Keats, Shelley, Bryon, Hogarth and Constable. What a history!

Today it still sits proudly between Hampstead and Highgate, admired far and wide, known for its fabulous Sunday roasts and pretty beer garden. My aim with this piece was to embody the true character of this historical building, highlighting its well know features and capturing a snapshot in time.

This is a landscape, unframed giclee print. This drawing is printed on premium Hahnemuhle photo rag paper (308gsm), providing a high quality, archival piece of art at an affordable price. It is available in 4 sizes: 8”x6”, A4 (297mm x 210mm), A3 (420mm x 297mm) and A2 (594mm x 420mm).

Prints are sized to fit standard frames. Framed options are available to N2, N6, N8, N10, N11 and N22 residents. Please email hilarysketches@gmail.com for more information.
