Hornsey Road Baths and Laundry
This is an ink and pencil drawing of the beautiful Hornsey Road Baths and Laundry. It shows it exactly as it is now, in 2022, with its stunning clock and tower, striking architectural detail in the brickwork and iconic neon sign which is eye-catching both day and night.
This characterful building is absolutely steeped in history. Originally built in the 1890’s, it housed 4 pools, a washhouse and a public laundry. It was known far and wide and was the best and most popular baths in Islington. In 1898 more than a quarter of a million people used the baths. It was damaged in the Blitz in 1941, renovated in the 1970s, closed in the 1990s and partly demolished in 2006…..but the famous neon sign we know and love still proudly stands.
This is an portrait, unframed Giclee print of an ink and watercolour pencil drawing.
This drawing is printed on premium Hahnemuhle photo rag paper (308gsm), providing a high quality, archival piece of art at an affordable price. It is available in 4 sizes, 8”x6”, A4 (297mm x 210mm), A3 (420mm x 297mm), A2 (594mm x 420mm)
